Day 4: Subfloor Completed and “Old” Roof Teardown

I apologize for the lack of blog posts recently – the work was split up over a few days and the crew worked late a few nights. That said, the subfloor was finished yesterday and was re-insulated, so I am happy that part is done. We were then planning on rebuilding the entire back roof today, but noticed there was a roof sandwiched between the old ceiling and the current roof, which was quite strange. Rather than rebuild the entire thing, we decided to take down the old one (which was rotted and covered with mold anyway), and simply use the current one to save time. We reinforced the roof with new 2 x 4’s, so everything is a lot stronger than it was. This work will be continued on Monday and new shingles should be getting installed on Tuesday, so stay tuned. In the meantime, please see below for some pictures.

P.S. Special thanks to my quality control specialists for coming out to inspect the job today.

  1. Really was something to see how much more spacious the space is without the very low ceiling. So excited to what’s next! 🙂
p.s. I look like an old guinea mother, lol! 🙂
